Answer
Hasbro’s 1990s action-figure line
Power of the Force 2 was Hasbro’s 1990s Star Wars action-figure line.
The line began in 1995 and revived the classic Star Wars action-figure market after several years without a major continuing collection. It used characters from the original trilogy, new figures connected with Shadows of the Empire and later releases tied to the Special Editions. The figures generally followed the familiar 3.75-inch scale while using updated sculpting, articulation and packaging.
Collectors call the range “Power of the Force 2” to distinguish it from Kenner’s original Power of the Force collection from 1985. The name refers to the second major use of that branding, not to a film titled Power of the Force.
Hasbro became the owner of the Kenner Star Wars toy business after acquiring Tonka in 1991, and the Kenner branding gradually gave way to Hasbro branding. This corporate history explains why the line is sometimes described as Kenner-era and sometimes as Hasbro-era merchandise.
