The match was played on Monday 24 August 2026 and was the final fixture of the opening Match Round. Chelsea won the west London derby, but Fulham scored twice in a competitive match at their home ground.
Craven Cottage has been Fulham’s historic home beside the River Thames since 1896, apart from periods when the club temporarily played elsewhere during redevelopment. Its distinctive riverside setting makes it one of the most recognisable grounds in English football.
Chelsea’s home stadium is Stamford Bridge, so the fixture was not played there. The result and venue are also separate from Chelsea’s later home fixtures in the same season.
