Emirates Stadium hosted Arsenal versus Coventry City in the first match of the 2026–27 Premier League. The North London ground staged the season opener on Friday, 21 August 2026.
Emirates Stadium is Arsenal’s home stadium and replaced Highbury as the club’s home in 2006. It is located in Holloway, in the London Borough of Islington, and has a listed capacity of 60,704 for the 2026–27 season. Arsenal therefore began their title defence in their own stadium.
The venue can be confused with Wembley Stadium, which is also in London but is used primarily for England matches and major cup finals. Other opening-weekend matches took place at grounds including the MKM Stadium, the Etihad Stadium and St James’ Park.
