Which song won Beyoncé her first Grammy Award for Song of the Year?

The story behind the answer

“Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” won Beyoncé her first Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

The song won Song of the Year at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards in 2010. It was written by Terius “The-Dream” Nash, Tricky Stewart, Beyoncé, and Thaddis “Kuk” Harrell. The track appeared on Beyoncé’s 2008 double album I Am... Sasha Fierce.

The recording became especially famous for its stark black-and-white music video, directed by Jake Nava. Its choreography, created by Frank Gatson Jr. and JaQuel Knight, inspired a widely imitated dance centered on the “Uh Oh” movement.

The song also won Grammys for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best R&B Song at the same ceremony. It is often confused with “Crazy in Love,” which was another major Beyoncé hit and Grammy winner, but “Single Ladies” was the Song of the Year winner asked about here.
