Which skyscraper in New York City has a spire that reaches 1,776 feet?

The story behind the answer

New York City’s One World Trade Center has a spire that reaches 1,776 feet.

The height was chosen as a deliberate reference to 1776, the year associated with the United States Declaration of Independence. The tower’s roof is 1,368 feet high, while its architectural height, including the spire, is 1,776 feet, or 541 metres.

Designed by architect David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, the building stands at the northwest corner of the World Trade Center site in Lower Manhattan. Construction began in 2006, and the tower officially opened in November 2014.

A frequent confusion concerns antennae and spires. One World Trade Center’s 1,776-foot figure includes its architectural spire, which is treated as part of the building’s height. The tower is also commonly called the Freedom Tower, but One World Trade Center is its official name.
