Which skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur was designed by César Pelli?

The story behind the answer

César Pelli designed Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Towers.

The Argentine-American architect led the design of the twin towers, which were completed in 1998. Their forms combine modern high-rise engineering with motifs associated with Islamic geometric patterns, producing repeated eight-pointed star floor plans. Stainless-steel cladding gives the towers their bright, reflective appearance.

The towers are linked by a skybridge between levels 41 and 42. The bridge is not rigidly fixed to both towers; its movement and connection details help accommodate wind and structural motion. The complex became an international symbol of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia.

The Petronas Towers are often confused with Malaysia’s Merdeka 118, which is a later single tower in the same national capital. They are also frequently described simply as the world’s tallest twin towers, a title they held after completion and that remains associated with their design.
