Which singing group, later known as Destiny’s Child, began as Girl’s Tyme?

The story behind the answer

The singing group that began as Girl’s Tyme later became known as Destiny’s Child.

Girl’s Tyme was formed in Houston in 1990, with Beyoncé among its early members. The group competed on the television program Star Search in 1993, although it did not win. After changes in membership and management, the group signed with Columbia Records and adopted the name Destiny’s Child.

The best-known lineup consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Destiny’s Child became one of the most successful girl groups in music history, recording hits such as “No, No, No,” “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Bootylicious.” The group went on hiatus in 2002 and formally disbanded in 2006.

Farrah Franklin and LeToya Luckett were also members during earlier periods, so the group’s lineup changed considerably before its most famous trio era.
