Beyoncé voiced Nala in the 2019 live-action film The Lion King.
Directed by Jon Favreau, the film is a photorealistic computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 animated feature. Beyoncé joined a voice cast that included Donald Glover as Simba, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and Alfre Woodard as Sarabi.
Nala is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his mate and queen. Beyoncé also recorded “Spirit,” an original song created for the film, and contributed to The Lion King: The Gift, a companion album inspired by the movie.
The film was a major global box-office success. A common mix-up is treating it as a conventional live-action production with photographed animals; its characters were created using digital visual effects, although the film was marketed as live action.
