Beyoncé voiced Nala in Disney’s 2019 remake of The Lion King.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Lion King is a computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated film. Beyoncé supplied the speaking and singing voice for the adult Nala, a lioness who becomes Simba’s partner and later queen of the Pride Lands.
Donald Glover voiced Simba, James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa, and Chiwetel Ejiofor voiced Scar. The cast also included Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon. Beyoncé’s daughter Blue Ivy Carter voiced the young lion Kiara in the film’s ending sequence.
Beyoncé also contributed to The Lion King: The Gift, a companion album inspired by the film. She performed “Spirit,” one of the album’s principal songs, and curated the project’s artists and overall concept.
