Which singer performed the English vocals for the song 'Circle of Life'?

Which singer performed the English vocals for “Circle of Life”? Carmen Twillie performed the song’s English lead vocals.

Twillie supplies the powerful female vocal heard in the English-language film recording, giving the opening song its soaring central melody. The performance accompanies the famous sunrise sequence in which Rafiki presents Simba at Pride Rock, making it one of the most recognizable musical openings in Disney animation.

A frequent mix-up involves Lebo M, whose distinctive voice is heard in the opening African-language vocal passage. The soundtrack credits both performers: Twillie provides the deep female lead vocals, while Lebo M contributes the opening Zulu vocals and vocal arrangement. They are both essential to the recording, but the English lead singer is Twillie.

Elton John and Hans Zimmer composed the music, and Tim Rice wrote the English lyrics. John later recorded a separate pop version for the soundtrack, which is why the film performance and the radio-style version can sound different.
