Kelly Rowland joined Beyoncé as a member of Destiny’s Child and became the group’s longest-serving lineup partner.
Rowland and Beyoncé performed together in the group that developed from an earlier Houston-based act called Girl’s Tyme. Destiny’s Child became one of the best-selling girl groups in music history, with major hits including “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Bootylicious.” The group’s final core lineup consisted of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams.
Destiny’s Child experienced several lineup changes before reaching that trio. LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett were part of an earlier successful lineup, while Farrah Franklin was briefly a member. Rowland remained with the group through its international breakthrough and final studio album, Destiny Fulfilled, released in 2004. After the group’s hiatus and eventual dissolution, both Rowland and Beyoncé continued successful solo careers.
