Shakira collaborated with Beyoncé on “Beautiful Liar.” The song was released in 2007 as a single from the deluxe edition of Beyoncé’s album B’Day and Shakira’s reissue Oral Fixation, Vol. 2.
Written by Beyoncé, Amanda Ghost, Ian Dench, and others, “Beautiful Liar” combines contemporary R&B and Latin-pop influences. Its lyrics describe two women confronting the same unfaithful man rather than competing with each other. The collaboration united two of the most internationally successful female singers of the 2000s.
The music video became notable for choreography in which Beyoncé and Shakira mirrored one another, including the distinctive dance style associated with Shakira. The song reached number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in several countries. It is not a Rihanna collaboration, although Beyoncé and Rihanna have both had many high-profile pop collaborations.
