Which Sikh Guru established the city of Kartarpur on the Ravi River?

Guru Nanak established the city of Kartarpur on the Ravi River.

After traveling widely, Guru Nanak settled at Kartarpur in the early 16th century. There he gathered disciples, taught through hymns, and demonstrated a community life centered on honest work, remembrance of the divine, and sharing with others. Kartarpur became one of the earliest permanent centers of the Sikh tradition.

Guru Nanak spent the final years of his life at Kartarpur and died there in 1539. The site is now in Narowal District, Punjab, Pakistan, close to the India-Pakistan border. Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur marks the place traditionally associated with his residence and passing.

Kartarpur should not be confused with Kartarpur Sahib in discussions of the modern pilgrimage corridor, although the names refer to the same historic town and shrine area. The city founded by Guru Nanak is also distinct from Amritsar, which was developed later under subsequent Sikh Gurus.
