Kelly Marcel co-wrote Practical Magic 2 with Akiva Goldsman and Georgia Pritchett.
The film’s screenplay credits list Goldsman, Pritchett, and Marcel. Goldsman was attached to write the script when Warner Bros. announced the sequel’s development in June 2024, and Pritchett joined him as a co-writer in May 2025.
Kelly Marcel is not the author of the source novel. Alice Hoffman wrote The Book of Magic, the 2021 novel on which the sequel is based. Denise Di Novi is a producer, and Simon Duggan is the cinematographer.
Separating these creative roles prevents a common credit mix-up. The director is Susanne Bier, the composer is Rupert Gregson-Williams, and the screenwriters adapt Hoffman’s literary material for the film. The story follows the Owens family as it confronts the origins of its magic and a centuries-old curse.
