Which Scotch whisky distillery produces Talisker on the Isle of Skye?
Answer
Talisker Distillery
Answer
Talisker Distillery
Talisker Distillery produces Talisker Scotch whisky on the Isle of Skye.
The distillery stands near Carbost on the shores of Loch Harport. Brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill founded it in 1830, and it became the only working malt whisky distillery on Skye for many years.
Talisker is known for a maritime character often described with peppery, smoky, and lightly peated notes. Its spirit is made using copper pot stills and is commonly associated with the Island whisky grouping, although the Islands are not one of Scotch whisky’s five legally protected production regions.
Talisker is sometimes mistakenly grouped with Islay whiskies because both styles can show smoke and peat. Talisker, however, is produced on Skye, while Islay is a separate island with its own famous distilleries.
