Which Rocky sequel was released in 1990?

The story behind the answer

Which Rocky sequel was released in 1990? Rocky V was released in 1990.

Rocky V is the fifth film in the Rocky series and the direct sequel to Rocky IV (1985). It follows Rocky Balboa after a brain injury and financial problems force him to retire from boxing. Back in Philadelphia, he trains the young heavyweight Tommy “The Machine” Gunn, played by Tommy Morrison.

The film was directed by John G. Avildsen, who also directed the original Rocky, and written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. It was released in the United States on November 16, 1990. Talia Shire returned as Adrian, and Sage Stallone made his film debut as Rocky’s son, Robert Balboa.

Rocky V is often confused with Rocky IV because the two films form a direct story transition, but Rocky IV was released in 1985 and centers on Rocky’s fight with Ivan Drago. Rocky V was initially intended as the series finale; Rocky Balboa eventually followed in 2006.
