Which Rocky franchise film is Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut?

The story behind the answer

Creed III is Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut. He stars in the film as Adonis Creed and directs the third chapter of the spin-off series.

Jordan had already played Adonis in Creed and Creed II before moving behind the camera. Producers had discussed him directing the next installment, and he was reported as making his directorial debut when Creed III entered development. The film was released in 2023.

Creed III is the ninth film overall in the Rocky franchise and the third Creed movie. It follows an older, recently retired Adonis as he confronts Damian Anderson, a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy played by Jonathan Majors. Unlike the earlier Creed films, it does not feature Sylvester Stallone reprising Rocky Balboa, although Stallone remained involved as a producer.

The distractors are all acting or franchise titles rather than Jordan’s first directing project. Rocky Balboa was directed by Stallone, while Creed and Creed II were directed by Ryan Coogler and Steven Caple Jr., respectively.
