Which revolution is the setting for Assassin's Creed Unity?

The story behind the answer

The French Revolution is the setting for Assassin's Creed Unity.

Released in 2014, Unity follows Arno Dorian, an Assassin active in Paris from the eve of the Revolution through its most turbulent years. The game depicts recognizable events and locations connected with the period, including the storming of the Bastille and political upheaval in Paris.

Arno is drawn into the Assassin-Templar conflict after the murder of his adoptive father, François de la Serre, who is a Templar leader. His personal relationship with Élise de la Serre gives the story an additional connection to the Templar order.

Unity is sometimes confused with Assassin's Creed III because both games center on revolutionary movements. Assassin's Creed III takes place during the American Revolution in the late eighteenth-century Atlantic world, whereas Unity focuses on France, especially Paris. The title also emphasizes cooperative missions designed for multiple players.
