Jesper Kyd composed the musical score for Assassin's Creed II.
Kyd's score combines orchestral writing, electronic textures, vocal passages, and period-inspired colors. Its most recognizable themes help distinguish the game's Renaissance Italian setting from the darker medieval atmosphere of the first Assassin's Creed.
Assassin's Creed II follows Ezio Auditore across several decades, beginning in Florence and expanding to locations such as Monteriggioni, Venice, and Forlì. The soundtrack supports both intimate family scenes and large-scale action, while recurring musical ideas accompany Ezio's growth from a young nobleman into an experienced Assassin.
Kyd also composed music for the first Assassin's Creed and later contributed to other entries in the series, including Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Revelations. He is therefore often associated with the franchise's early musical identity. Lorne Balfe, by contrast, became especially associated with later Assassin's Creed scores, including Assassin's Creed III.
