Which record label released Fleetwood Mac's 1968 debut album?

The story behind the answer

Fleetwood Mac’s 1968 debut album was released by Blue Horizon. The self-titled record is also known as Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac, reflecting the central role of its founder and guitarist during the band’s original British-blues phase.

The album was released in February 1968 and was produced by Mike Vernon, a major figure in the British blues recording scene. It mixed original songs by Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer with blues covers, featuring Green on vocals, guitar, and harmonica, Spencer on vocals and slide guitar, John McVie on bass, and Mick Fleetwood on drums. Bob Brunning played bass on “Long Grey Mare.”

The record was a strong British success, reaching No. 4 on the UK Albums Chart and remaining there for 37 weeks. It appeared before Fleetwood Mac’s later moves to Immediate and then Reprise, which causes a frequent label mix-up. Blue Horizon was also closely associated with early British blues releases, including the band’s subsequent 1968 album Mr. Wonderful.
