Hull City recorded a clean-sheet victory over Manchester United in the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
Hull defeated Manchester United 2–0 at the MKM Stadium on Saturday, 22 August 2026. The promoted side prevented United from scoring and therefore secured a clean sheet in its first match back in the Premier League.
Hull had returned to the top flight after a nine-year absence. The result was especially striking because Manchester United were one of English football’s best-known clubs, while Hull were widely viewed as underdogs in the fixture.
Other promoted teams also featured during the round. Coventry City lost 3–0 to Arsenal, while Ipswich Town beat Sunderland 2–1. Thus Hull was the promoted club whose opening-weekend win came against Manchester United and included a shutout.
