Which Premier League club moved to London Stadium in 2016?
Answer
West Ham United
Answer
West Ham United
West Ham United moved to London Stadium in 2016. The club left the Boleyn Ground, commonly known as Upton Park, after its final home match there in May 2016 and began the 2016–17 season at the former Olympic venue in Stratford.
London Stadium had originally been built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. After the Games, it was redeveloped as a multi-use venue, with West Ham becoming its primary football tenant. The move gave the club a much larger capacity than the Boleyn Ground, although the stadium's running track and altered atmosphere prompted debate among supporters.
West Ham's first competitive season at the stadium was managed by Slaven Bilić. The club finished 11th in the 2016–17 Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur also moved stadiums in 2019, but their new home was Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, not London Stadium; Fulham and Crystal Palace remained at their existing grounds.
