Manchester City became the first English top-flight team to finish a season with 100 points in 2017–18.
Pep Guardiola’s City side set a remarkable collection of records while winning the Premier League. They collected 100 points from 38 matches, including 32 victories, and finished 19 points ahead of Manchester United. Their 106 goals were also a Premier League record at the time.
City secured the centurion mark on the final day, when Gabriel Jesus scored a late winner in a 1–0 victory at Southampton. The result took them from 97 to 100 points and gave the team its famous “Centurions” nickname.
This record is distinct from the largest title-winning margin or most wins in a season, although City also excelled in those categories. The 2017–18 campaign was Manchester City’s third Premier League title and the first under Guardiola.
