Power Rangers Turbo introduced a vehicle-centered theme after the Rangers received Turbo powers. Its five main Turbozords are modeled on high-performance cars and related vehicles: the Red Lightning, Mountain Blaster, Desert Thunder, Dune Star, and Wind Chaser. Together, they combine to form the Turbo Megazord.

The television season aired in 1997 and was based on the Japanese Super Sentai series Gekisou Sentai Carranger. That source series also used a racing and automotive motif, which explains why Turbo’s machines look and function more like cars than the animal- or dinosaur-inspired Zords seen in many other seasons.

Operation Overdrive and RPM can cause confusion because both feature prominent vehicles. Turbo, however, is the team specifically associated with the car-like Turbozords and their combination into the Turbo Megazord.
