Which PlayStation controller introduced two analog sticks before the DualShock became standard?
Answer
Dual Analog Controller
Answer
Dual Analog Controller
The Dual Analog Controller introduced two analog sticks before the DualShock became standard.
Sony released the Dual Analog Controller in 1997 for the original PlayStation. It added twin analog sticks to the basic PlayStation controller design, allowing players to control movement and camera direction more flexibly in compatible games.
The controller also included a vibration function in some markets, but its vibration support was not identical to the later DualShock's implementation. Sony replaced it with the DualShock in 1997, and the newer controller became the more familiar standard PlayStation design.
A common mix-up is calling the Dual Analog Controller the first DualShock. The DualShock followed shortly afterward and combined twin analog sticks with more widely standardized vibration feedback.
