How much built-in flash storage did the PlayStation Portable Go include?

The story behind the answer

The PlayStation Portable Go included 16 GB of built-in flash storage. Sony designed this smaller PSP model as a digital-download-focused version of the handheld, so it did not have a slot for the standard UMD game discs used by earlier PSP systems.

The PSP Go used a sliding-screen design and launched in 2009. Games and other content could be downloaded through the PlayStation Store, while a Memory Stick Micro slot provided an option for additional removable storage.

The 16 GB figure refers to the internal flash memory, not the amount available for game installations after the operating system and other data occupy space. It is also separate from the removable Memory Stick Micro capacity.

Because the PSP Go lacked a built-in UMD drive, it could not directly play a user’s physical UMD collection. That distinction is one of the model’s most important differences from the original PSP hardware.
