Which player won the first PDC Grand Slam of Darts in 2007?

The story behind the answer

Phil Taylor won the first PDC Grand Slam of Darts in 2007.

The inaugural tournament was staged at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall in England. Taylor defeated Andy Hamilton 18–11 in the final, claiming the event’s first title and its £50,000 top prize. The competition was unusual because it brought together leading players from several major darts organisations and tournament circuits.

The Grand Slam was created by the Professional Darts Corporation and initially included invited players from the PDC, British Darts Organisation, and other recognised events. Taylor’s victory continued his dominance across major televised tournaments during the 2000s.

The event is often confused with the Grand Slam of Darts qualification system used in later years. Although the field and qualification rules changed, the 2007 champion remained Taylor. He later won the tournament again in 2009, while Michael van Gerwen became its most successful champion with multiple titles.
