Anton Stach scored the only goal in Nottingham Forest’s 0–1 defeat by Leeds United.
Leeds won at the City Ground through Stach’s late direct free-kick. The match was one of the opening weekend’s tightest contests, with neither side creating many clear chances before the decisive set piece.
Premier League coverage highlighted Stach’s speciality from outside the penalty area. It also noted that he had scored more Premier League goals from outside the box than any other player since the start of the previous season, while his total of direct free-kick goals led the competition over that period.
The goal is easy to confuse with Jack Clarke’s 90th-minute winner for Ipswich against Sunderland. Both were late goals scored by visiting teams, but Stach decided Leeds’ match and Clarke decided Ipswich’s.
