Anton Stach scored Leeds United’s winner against Nottingham Forest during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The German midfielder converted an 88th-minute free-kick to give Leeds a 1–0 victory at Nottingham Forest. The late set piece secured Leeds’ second successive opening-match win in the Premier League.
Stach’s goal also continued a notable personal trend. It was his fifth Premier League goal from outside the penalty area since the start of the previous season, more than any other player over that span. His direct free-kick was one of the decisive moments of the weekend.
The result was disappointing for Forest, who had won only one of their previous 12 Premier League home matches by the time of the fixture. Stach’s goal should not be confused with Dominik Szoboszlai’s late penalty for Liverpool or Jack Clarke’s 90th-minute winner for Ipswich; both were different opening-weekend matches.
