Michael Kayode scored Brentford’s third goal in their 3–0 opening-weekend win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Kayode completed Brentford’s scoring after the interval, turning a strong performance into a comprehensive victory at the start of the 2026–27 campaign. The result matched Brentford’s best-ever Premier League finish from the previous season with an emphatic opening-day statement.
Keane Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 12th minute after receiving the final pass from club-record signing Mamadou Sangare. Vitaly Janelt then doubled Brentford’s advantage before half-time, giving the Bees control before Kayode added the third goal.
Brentford could have extended the margin further, but Igor Thiago missed a penalty. Even without that chance, the 3–0 scoreline put Brentford among the weekend’s most impressive winners and left Tottenham starting the season without a goal.
