Which player became Brentford’s first scorer in their 3–0 victory over Tottenham during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend?

The story behind the answer

Keane Lewis-Potter became Brentford’s first scorer in their 3–0 victory over Tottenham during the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.

Lewis-Potter opened the scoring in the 12th minute at Brentford’s home ground on Saturday 22 August 2026. His goal arrived after an assist from Mamadou Sangare, Brentford’s club-record signing, who was making his debut.

Vitaly Janelt added Brentford’s second goal before half-time, and Michael Kayode scored the third after the interval. The three-goal victory gave Brentford an excellent start to the campaign and left Tottenham with no points.

Lewis-Potter’s opener was important because it established Brentford’s early control. Sangare’s immediate contribution also gave the new signing a memorable introduction, even though Brentford’s missed penalty prevented an even larger winning margin.
