Mamadou Sangaré assisted Brentford’s opening goal against Tottenham Hotspur in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Brentford defeated Tottenham 3–0 on Saturday 22 August 2026. Sangaré, Brentford’s club-record signing, made an immediate impact on his debut by setting up Keane Lewis-Potter for the 12th-minute opener.
Vitaly Janelt doubled Brentford’s lead before half-time, and Michael Kayode added the third goal after the interval. The result gave Brentford a commanding start to their campaign.
Sangaré’s debut was widely memorable because his first contribution for the club came as a direct assist. Brentford also had a chance to score more, but Igor Thiago missed a penalty that would have improved their goal difference further.
