Rayan Cherki assisted both of Manchester City’s goals against Bournemouth on the 2026–27 opening weekend.
Cherki entered the match from the bench just after the hour mark, with Manchester City trailing 1–0. His introduction changed the contest as City searched for a way back into Enzo Maresca’s first Premier League match in charge.
Cherki delivered the corner that led to Marc Guéhi’s equaliser. He then supplied Joško Gvardiol with an intricate pass for the stoppage-time winner, giving City a 2–1 victory.
The comeback was notable because Bournemouth had never led at the Etihad before. It also ended Bournemouth’s 18-match unbeaten run in the Premier League. Cherki’s two-assist performance therefore became one of the clearest individual stories from the opening Sunday.
