Which peninsula is the world’s largest, occupying most of the Arabian region?
Answer
Arabian Peninsula
Answer
Arabian Peninsula
The Arabian Peninsula is the world’s largest peninsula, occupying most of the Arabian region.
It is bordered by the Red Sea to the west, the Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea to the south, and the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman to the east. Its northern boundary is commonly drawn near the Syrian Desert, where the land blends into the wider Asian mainland.
The peninsula includes Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and parts of Jordan and Iraq. Saudi Arabia covers most of its land area. The region is dominated by deserts, including the Rub’ al Khali, or Empty Quarter, one of the world’s largest sand deserts.
The Arabian Peninsula is sometimes confused with the broader Middle East, but the terms are not interchangeable. The peninsula is a geographic landform; the Middle East is a wider cultural and political region that also includes countries outside Arabia.
