Which peninsula in western Ireland contains the extreme point known as Dunmore Head?

The story behind the answer

The Dingle Peninsula in western Ireland contains the extreme point known as Dunmore Head.

The peninsula projects westward from County Kerry into the Atlantic Ocean. It is renowned for dramatic cliffs, sandy beaches, ancient stone monuments and landscapes shaped by both Atlantic weather and long-settled farming communities.

Dunmore Head lies near Slea Head, one of the peninsula’s most prominent coastal viewpoints. The Blasket Islands sit offshore to the west, and Dingle is the peninsula’s principal town and a centre for tourism, fishing and local culture.

The Dingle Peninsula is often confused with the Iveragh Peninsula, which lies to the south and is associated with the Ring of Kerry. Both are in County Kerry, but they are separate peninsulas divided by Dingle Bay and Kenmare Bay systems.
