Which peninsula in eastern Russia contains volcanoes such as Klyuchevskaya Sopka?

The story behind the answer

The Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia contains volcanoes such as Klyuchevskaya Sopka.

It projects southward between the Sea of Okhotsk and the Bering Sea, with the Pacific Ocean and the Kuril Islands to the south. The peninsula is about 1,250 kilometres long and is famous for active volcanoes, glaciers, hot springs, and rugged wilderness. Two parallel volcanic ranges run through much of its interior.

Klyuchevskaya Sopka is the highest mountain on the peninsula and one of Eurasia's most active volcanoes. Kamchatka's volcanoes and associated landscapes are recognized by UNESCO as the Volcanoes of Kamchatka World Heritage property. Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky is the principal city and an important Pacific port. The peninsula is remote and has historically included restricted military areas, so many parts remain sparsely populated compared with western Russia.
