Which organization is the global governing body of the Paralympic movement?

The story behind the answer

The International Paralympic Committee is the global governing body of the Paralympic movement.

Usually abbreviated to IPC, the organization was founded on 22 September 1989. It is an international non-profit organization made up of national Paralympic committees, international sport federations, and disability sport organizations.

The IPC organizes the Summer and Winter Paralympic Games and serves as the international federation for several Paralympic sports. It also develops policies on classification, athlete eligibility, and the administration of the movement.

The IPC is separate from the International Olympic Committee, although the two organizations cooperate closely. The Olympic Committee governs the Olympic movement, while the IPC has primary authority over Paralympic competition and its affiliated structures.
