Which of Sikhism’s five Takhts is located in Nanded, Maharashtra?

The story behind the answer

Takht Sri Hazur Sahib is the Sikh Takht located in Nanded, Maharashtra.

The shrine stands at the site where Guru Gobind Singh died in 1708. It is also known as Sachkhand Hazur Sahib and is one of Sikhism’s five seats of temporal authority, called Takhts.

The complex commemorates the final phase of Guru Gobind Singh’s life. According to Sikh tradition, before his death he ended the line of human Gurus and vested the eternal Guruship in the Guru Granth Sahib. This gives the Nanded site particular importance in Sikh history.

Takht Sri Hazur Sahib is sometimes confused with Takht Sri Patna Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, or Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib at Anandpur Sahib, associated with the founding of the Khalsa.
