Geilo, Norway, hosted the 1980 Winter Paralympic Games.
The second Winter Paralympics were held from 1 to 7 February 1980 in Geilo, a mountain resort in southern Norway. The programme included alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ice sledge racing and the shooting component of biathlon.
Geilo followed Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, which hosted the inaugural Winter Paralympics in 1976. The 1980 Games continued the early Winter Paralympic tradition of using a compact resort setting rather than a major city.
Geilo is sometimes confused with Lillehammer, which hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics. Those Games were held in a different Norwegian location 14 years later.
