Which Norwegian black metal band released the album 'De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas'?

The story behind the answer

The Norwegian black metal band that released De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas is Mayhem. Released in May 1994, it became the band's debut studio album and one of the most influential records in the history of black metal.

The album's songs had been developed over several years, beginning in the late 1980s. Its release was delayed by major upheaval surrounding the band, including the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per “Dead” Ohlin and the 1993 murder of guitarist Øystein “Euronymous” Aarseth. The finished album features guitar work by Euronymous, bass by Varg Vikernes, drums by Hellhammer, and vocals by Attila Csihar.

Listeners sometimes confuse Mayhem with Burzum, Darkthrone, or Emperor because all are strongly associated with Norway's early black-metal scene. Mayhem, however, is the band credited with the album. The title is a stylized Latin phrase concerning Satan's mysteries, and the cover depicts Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.
