Supreme collaborated with Nike on the Air Max 98 in 2016.
The project reworked Nike’s Air Max 98, a running-inspired sneaker originally introduced in the late 1990s. Supreme produced versions using bold color combinations and distinctive detailing, including prominent branding associated with the partnership. The release connected Supreme’s established footwear collaborations with Nike’s Air Max heritage.
The Air Max 98 is easily confused with other Nike models because Supreme has worked with several silhouettes over the years. The brand’s Nike history includes projects involving models such as the Air Force 1, SB Dunk and other basketball or skate shoes. Those are separate collaborations and should not replace the Air Max 98 in this question.
Nike introduced the Air Max 98 as a follow-up to the Air Max 97. Its visible cushioning unit and layered upper made it a recognizable choice for a fashion-oriented reinterpretation.
