Arsenal beat newly promoted Coventry City 3–0 on the first day of the 2026–27 Premier League season.
The match was played at Emirates Stadium on Friday 21 August 2026, making it the season opener. Arsenal were the defending champions, while Coventry had returned to the Premier League after a 25-year absence.
Coventry were one of three promoted clubs in the 2026–27 Premier League, alongside Ipswich Town and Hull City. All three appeared in opening-round fixtures, but only Coventry faced Arsenal on the first day.
Arsenal’s goals came from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard. The clean-sheet win gave the champions an immediate three points and made Coventry the first opponents of the new campaign.
