Hull City beat Manchester United 2–0 on the 2026–27 Premier League opening weekend.
The match was played at Hull City’s MKM Stadium on Saturday 22 August 2026. It was the first Saturday lunchtime fixture of the season, beginning at 12:30 in the United Kingdom.
Hull were one of three promoted clubs in the 2026–27 Premier League, alongside Coventry City and Ipswich Town. They had returned to the top flight after a nine-year absence. Their victory over Manchester United therefore combined a promotion comeback with an impressive opening-day result.
The other promoted teams had different results: Coventry lost 3–0 to Arsenal, while Ipswich defeated Sunderland 2–1. Leeds United also won on the opening weekend, but Leeds were not one of the three clubs promoted for this season.
