Which musical won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical?

The Outsiders won the 2024 Tony Award for Best Musical.

The award was presented at the 77th Tony Awards on June 16, 2024, at the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. The musical is based on S. E. Hinton's 1967 young-adult novel and the 1983 film adaptation, following Ponyboy Curtis and his fellow Greasers in 1960s Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Broadway production featured a score by the folk-rock duo Jamestown Revival and Justin Levine, with a book by Adam Rapp and Justin Levine. Danya Taymor directed the production, which had first been developed at California's La Jolla Playhouse before moving to Broadway.

The Outsiders also won Tony Awards for Taymor's direction, lighting design, and choreography. It competed in a notably strong Best Musical field that included Hell's Kitchen, Illinoise, Stereophonic, and Water for Elephants. A common mix-up is confusing the Best Musical winner with Stereophonic, which won Best Play, or with Hell's Kitchen, which earned several acting and creative nominations.
