Which mountain is traditionally associated with the landing of Noah's Ark?

The story behind the answer

Mount Ararat is traditionally associated with the landing of Noah's Ark.

Genesis does not name a single peak called Ararat. It says the ark came to rest on the “mountains of Ararat,” a phrase generally connected with the ancient region of Urartu in the Armenian Highlands. Mount Ararat later became the best-known mountain identified with the story.

Modern Mount Ararat is a snow-capped volcanic massif in eastern Turkey, near the borders of Armenia and Iran. Its distinctive appearance helped make it a powerful focus for religious tradition and later exploration.

The distinction between the biblical plural phrase and the modern singular mountain matters. The Bible does not provide coordinates for the ark, and claims of discovering its remains have not produced generally accepted archaeological proof.
