Noah is called Nuh in the Quran’s Arabic flood narrative.
Nuh (Arabic: نوح) is presented in Islam as a prophet who warns his people and builds an ark by God’s command. His story appears in several Quranic passages, including Surah 11 (Hud), Surah 23 (Al-Mu’minun), and the chapter named Surah Nuh.
The Quranic account shares the broad flood theme with Genesis but differs in details and emphasis. It describes Nuh’s preaching, the refusal of many people to believe, and a son who declines to board the Ark and is drowned. The Quran does not reproduce Genesis’s full animal-counting instructions or its exact cubit dimensions.
“Nuh” is a transliteration, so English spellings may vary slightly in discussions of Islamic prophets. The Arabic form is distinct from the Hebrew name Noach and the English Noah.
