Which mountain is named in the Quran as the place where Noah’s Ark came to rest?

The story behind the answer

The Quran names Mount Judi as the place where Noah’s Ark came to rest.

In Quran 11:44, the flood waters recede and the Ark is described as settling on al-Judi, commonly rendered in English as Mount Judi. The mountain is traditionally associated with a range in southeastern Turkey near the borders of Iraq and Syria.

This differs from the widespread popular association of Noah’s Ark with Mount Ararat. Genesis says that the ark came to rest on the “mountains of Ararat,” while the Quran gives the specific name al-Judi. Later Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and regional traditions have connected the landing place with several different mountains.

Mount Judi is therefore the answer when the question is specifically about the Quranic account. Identifying it with Mount Ararat treats two distinct textual traditions as though they used the same geographical name.
