Christy Turlington appeared with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Linda Evangelista in George Michael’s 1990 “Freedom! ’90” music video.
The video became one of the defining popular-culture images of the supermodel era. Rather than showing George Michael performing, it featured the models lip-syncing to the song while wearing designs associated with high fashion, including work by Gianni Versace.
Turlington’s participation helped cement her status alongside the other leading models of the period. The four women were later frequently grouped as part of the era’s most influential supermodel circle.
Tatjana Patitz is a common mix-up because she appeared in the original 1990 British Vogue cover photograph that also featured several of these models. She was not one of the four models in the music video.
