Which model played Leeloo in the 1997 science-fiction film The Fifth Element?

Milla Jovovich played Leeloo in the 1997 science-fiction film The Fifth Element.

Directed by Luc Besson, the film cast Jovovich as Leeloo, a mysterious humanoid who becomes central to the effort to save Earth. Her orange hair, white costume, and distinctive language made the character one of the film’s most memorable visual creations.

Jovovich had worked as a model since adolescence and became known for major fashion campaigns before establishing herself as an actor. The Fifth Element combined her modeling image with an action and science-fiction role, and it became an international box-office success.

Jovovich later starred in the Resident Evil film series. Leeloo is sometimes confused with other models who moved into acting, but Jovovich is the performer associated with this specific role.
