Anton Stach scored Leeds United’s 88th-minute free-kick at Nottingham Forest in the 2026–27 Premier League opener.
Stach’s late strike gave Leeds a 1–0 victory at the City Ground. The German midfielder converted directly from a free-kick in the 88th minute, leaving Forest little time to recover.
The result gave Leeds a second successive opening-match victory. It also continued Stach’s reputation for long-range scoring: the Premier League’s opening-round review noted that he had scored five goals from outside the area since the start of the previous season.
Stach’s goal should not be confused with Dominik Szoboszlai’s stoppage-time penalty for Liverpool at Newcastle, or with Brentford’s free-kick-related chances against Tottenham. In this match, Stach was the only scorer and Leeds won 1–0.
